Man Sentenced for Dodging Military Service: Three-Year Verdict

The Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office succeeded in securing the conviction of a 42-year-old resident for evading enlistment during mobilization. The man was sentenced to three years in prison. In April 2024, the accused, deemed fit for military service by the medical commission’s findings, refused to join the Armed Forces of Ukraine on religious grounds, which was documented. As a result, he violated the legislation regarding conscription. The investigation was conducted by the police of Stryi district, Lviv region. The verdict will take effect after the appeal period expires.
