
In the Lviv region, police have detained two individuals suspected of illegal handling of weapons and ammunition.
It has been established that two residents of the Stryi district, aged 44 and 55, illegally transported and stored rifles, an automatic rifle, a revolver, and ammunition. For their actions, they face a penalty of up to seven years of imprisonment.
The criminals were exposed by operatives from the criminal police together with investigators and officers from other services of Police Department No. 2 of the Stryi District Police Department, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
During authorized searches at their places of residence and work, law enforcement officers discovered and seized: an automatic rifle, three rifles, a significant amount of ammunition of various calibers for different types of weapons, magazines, gunpowder, and other material evidence linking them to illegal activities. All seized items have been sent for expert examination to the Lviv Scientific Research Forensic Center of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The perpetrators were detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and investigators of the territorial police unit have informed them of the suspicion of committing crimes under Part 1 of Article 263 (Illegal handling of weapons, ammunition, or explosives) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a punishment of three to seven years of imprisonment. The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, with law enforcement officers working to determine the origin of the weapons and ammunition.
