Following a public prosecution by prosecutors of the Halych District Prosecutor’s Office of Lviv, a 44-year-old local resident was found guilty of evading conscription for military service during mobilisation (Article 336 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
He was sentenced to 3 years in prison.
The prosecutors proved in court that the examination of the military medical commission had found the defendant medically fit for military service. However, the man refused to receive the summons, according to which he had to report to the place of service, and a relevant document was drawn up.
Subsequently, the defendant failed to report to the territorial recruitment and social support centre for service in the Armed Forces of Ukraine without a valid reason. Thus, the person liable for military service violated the requirements of the current legislation and evaded military conscription.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.
