An elderly cyclist was killed by a minibus in Lviv region – police are establishing the cause
The accident occurred on April 30, at about 11:00 a.m., on the Chervonohrad-Lviv highway between the town of Velyki Mosty and the village of Boyanets, Chervonohrad district.
As law enforcement officers have preliminarily established, the driver of a Renault Trafic, a 56-year-old resident of Chervonohrad district, collided with a cyclist, a 70-year-old resident of one of the villages in the district.
As a result of the accident, the driver of the two-wheeler was injured and hospitalized in intensive care, where, despite the efforts of doctors, he died of his injuries.
Investigators of the Department for Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Transport of the Lviv Police opened criminal proceedings under Part 2 of Article 286 (Violation of the rules of road safety) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
Law enforcement officers are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
