A serious traffic accident occurred in Lviv on the evening of May 21, resulting in a young woman being hospitalized in intensive care. Around 9:10 p.m., at the intersection of Shota Rustaveli and Kostomarova Streets, two vehicles—Toyota Camry and Volkswagen Eos—collided.
According to preliminary reports from law enforcement, the Toyota was driven by a 45-year-old Lviv resident, and the Volkswagen by a 25-year-old local. After the impact, the Volkswagen Eos continued moving due to inertia and veered onto the sidewalk, crashing into a public transport stop where a 21-year-old woman was standing.
The woman suffered severe injuries and was urgently transported to the hospital, where she remains in intensive care. Her condition is currently assessed as critical.
The Lviv District Police Department No. 1 has opened a criminal investigation under Part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, which deals with violations of traffic safety rules resulting in serious consequences.
This article provides for imprisonment from three to eight years, along with the potential revocation of driving rights for up to three years.
