The accident occurred on July 29 at about 22.00 in the village of Lysovychi, Stryi district.
Law enforcement officers have preliminarily established that a 22-year-old local resident, driving a motorcycle, hit a cyclist, a 72-year-old resident of a neighboring village. As a result of the accident, both participants were injured and taken to the hospital.
Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department opened criminal proceedings over the incident under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided for by the sanction of the article is restraint of liberty for up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident.
