Killed and buried in the garden – in the Lviv region, the police solved the murder and detained the suspect
It was established that the intruder – the owner of the household, on the territory of which the body was discovered, stabbed his guest nine times with a knife in the chest and abdomen during a domestic conflict. Convinced that his friend was dead, he buried the body in the garden and covered the place with twigs.
On March 21, a resident of one of the villages of the district contacted the Drohobytsky district police department with a report about the disappearance of her 53-year-old son. According to the applicant, she last saw him on March 17 – he allegedly went to his home. Since then, there is no contact with him.
Criminal police operatives, investigators, precinct, patrol police response groups, employees of other services of the territorial division of the police, as well as dog handlers and forensic specialists of the Lviv Oblast police and rescuers were involved in the search for the missing person.
Law enforcement officers examined the area and carried out a series of measures, during which the operatives of the criminal police discovered freshly dug ground covered with branches under a tree in the garden of one of the farms, located near the village where the missing man lived. After removing a layer of soil, the police found the body of the wanted man in the pit with traces of violent death, namely, with knife wounds in the chest and abdomen.
The conducted measures established that the fatal wounds to the man were inflicted by his acquaintance – the 37-year-old owner of the household. On March 17, the deceased came to visit him – the men drank alcohol and a domestic conflict arose between them, during which the host stabbed the guest nine times, causing fatal injuries. Convinced that his friend was dead, the attacker buried the body in the garden and covered the place with branches.
Investigators of the territorial unit of the police, under the procedural guidance of the Drogobytsk District Prosecutor’s Office, informed the man of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 115 (Deliberate murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum punishment provided for by the sanction of the article is imprisonment for a term of up to fifteen years.
The suspect is detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, the court will soon choose a preventive measure for him.
