The cyclist died at the scene from his injuries.
The traffic accident occurred on July 19 on the highway “Stry – Nizhinkovichi” near the village of Lishnya, Drohobytsky district.
As previously determined by law enforcement officers, the driver of the Deo Lanos car, a 43-year-old resident of Truskavets, collided with a 61-year-old cyclist, a resident of Drohobych, who was moving in the same direction.
The bicyclist died at the scene of the injuries sustained as a result of the accident.
It was also established that the driver of “Deo” was in a state of alcohol intoxication. He was detained in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine, and the court will soon choose a preventive measure for him. The car that was involved in the collision has been seized.
According to the fact, the investigators of the department of investigation of crimes in the field of transport of the police of Lviv region opened criminal proceedings under part 3 of article 286-1 (Violation of the rules of road traffic safety or operation of transport by persons who drive vehicles in a state of intoxication, which caused the death of the victim) of the Criminal Code Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of five to ten years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of five to ten years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
