Under the procedural guidance of the Sambir district prosecutor’s office, the pre-trial investigation was completed and an indictment was sent to the court against a 43-year-old man on the facts of intentional homicide and illegal carrying of a cold weapon (part 1 of article 115, part 2 of article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The investigation established that in September 2022, in one of the villages of the Sambir district, the accused was in his sister’s apartment together with a 62-year-old acquaintance. While drinking alcoholic beverages, a conflict arose between the men on the basis of jealousy.
During the dispute, the accused took a knife and stabbed the victim several times in the chest. The latter died at the scene from his injuries.
After the crime, the man went home, but on the way he was detained by police officers. During the detention, the law enforcement officers discovered and seized two knives from him, which, according to the expert’s opinion, belong to the category of cold weapons.
The pre-trial investigation was carried out by investigators of the Sambir district police department of the Main Department of the National Police in Lviv region.
Note: in accordance with Art. 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent of committing a crime and cannot be subjected to criminal punishment until his guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
