In the Khmelnytskyi region, a scheme for the illegal transfer of conscripts across Ukraine’s state border has been uncovered. According to the investigation, the organiser was identified as a 30-year-old soldier, a driver-mechanic from a local military unit.
He sought out ‘clients’, providing them with information on illegal crossing routes and instructions for the journey. It was planned to transport men of conscription age to the Chernivtsi region for subsequent illegal border crossing towards the Republic of Moldova.
The organiser also fabricated false certificates of contracted military service, which allowed individuals to evade checks at checkpoints. The cost of such services was 3,000 US dollars per person.
