The Khmelnytskyi Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region — SpecprokuraturaZahidRegion — has announced the exposure of a criminal group whose members organised a scheme to embezzle public funds earmarked for supplying bread to military personnel. The total losses inflicted on the state amount to nearly 1.5 million hryvnias.
According to the investigation, the scheme was organised by a former deputy battalion commander — the logistics chief of one of the military formations with law enforcement functions. He devised the mechanism for the unlawful activity and coordinated the actions of the other members of the group.
Also implicated in the criminal scheme were the director, a manager, and an economist from a private enterprise, among whom the organiser distributed specific roles. The proceedings are being conducted under the procedural supervision of the Khmelnytskyi Specialised Defence Prosecutor’s Office of the Western Region.
