Last week, around 14–15 August, a large-scale act of vandalism was recorded at the cemetery in the village of Dobryachyn. Employees of KP “Komunalnyk” discovered around 25 toppled and damaged headstones on the cemetery grounds.
The incident was reported during a briefing by the deputy head of the enterprise, Petro Vasylyshyn. According to him, the municipal enterprise has already submitted an appeal to law enforcement agencies in order to clarify the circumstances of the incident, the causes of the damage and to identify those involved.
In addition, on Friday and Saturday, fires broke out on the grounds of the same cemetery. Thanks to the prompt actions of the firefighters, the blazes were quickly contained and extinguished.
Materials regarding the damaged headstones and the fires have been handed over to the relevant services for further inspection.
