
A conflict occurred between students at a Lviv university during a themed discussion.
On October 24, a report was received on the special line 102 about a conflict between two groups of students that took place in one of the classrooms of the main building of a Lviv university. A response team from the Lviv District Police Station No.1 and officers from other Lviv police services, as well as the Lviv Regional Patrol Police Department, were immediately dispatched to the specified address.
The law enforcement officers established that the incident occurred around 3:30 PM during a themed discussion attended by about 25 participants – students from various educational institutions in Lviv. During the event, a dispute arose between students, which escalated into a scuffle. **The conflict arose from hooligan motives**, and no reports of casualties were received by the police.
The most active participants of the event were questioned at the police department. Based on the facts, the investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Halytskyi District Prosecutor’s Office, opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 296 (“Hooliganism”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for a penalty – restraint of liberty for a term up to five years or imprisonment for a term up to four years. A pre-trial investigation is underway; law enforcement is establishing all the circumstances of the incident.
