Attempted Bribery of Border Guards Discovered at Ugryniv Border

At the Ugryniv checkpoint, servicemen of the 7th Border Carpathian Detachment thwarted yet another bribery attempt. This was reported by 7prykordonnyi.karpatskyi.zahin. A 53-year-old native of Kyiv was heading out of Ukraine. During the document check, border guards discovered discrepancies in the organization of booking and business trip abroad. Following this, the man placed 1,000 USD into his passport and handed it to the inspector with the words, “Let’s make a deal.”

The deal did not go through. The 7th Border Carpathian Detachment has zero tolerance for corruption. The offense has been documented, and a report has been sent to law enforcement under Article 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine — “Offering, promising, or providing unlawful benefits to an official.” Since the beginning of February, border guards have recorded 23 bribery attempts totaling over 170,000 hryvnias.
