In Lviv Region, a Car Fatally Injured an Elderly Woman

In the Lviv region, an elderly woman died as a result of being hit by a car – police are investigating the circumstances of the incident. This was reported by MVS.LVIV.

The road accident occurred on February 25, around 7:20 PM, on the “Stryi-Ivano-Frankivsk” highway in the village of Myrtyuky, Stryi district. Preliminary investigations by law enforcement officers revealed that the driver of an Opel Astra, a 23-year-old resident of the Ivano-Frankivsk region, hit a pedestrian, an 83-year-old resident of the Stryi district. The elderly woman died at the scene from injuries sustained in the accident.

Investigators from the Lviv Police’s transport crime investigation department have opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article’s sanction provides for punishment by imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years or without such deprivation. Law enforcement officers are investigating the circumstances of the incident.
