The Lviv region police detained an offender who attempted to illegally smuggle a man across the border.
For 11 thousand dollars, a 33-year-old resident of the Chernivtsi region undertook to smuggle a conscript from Ukraine to the EU outside the checkpoints. He was exposed by the investigators of the department for investigating crimes in the field of economic and official activities of the Lviv region police together with the SBU and the prosecutor’s office.
On May 20, law enforcement officers detained the offender a few dozen kilometers from the Ukraine-Romania border with a \”client\” in the car. He has been charged with committing a criminal offense under part 3 of article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine.
The sanction of the article provides for punishment – imprisonment from seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property. The pre-trial investigation continues, and soon the court will choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
