
In the Lviv region, police have detained a suspect who attempted to murder his acquaintance.
It has been established that the suspect inflicted several knife wounds to the victim’s abdomen and neck. For the committed crime, he faces a punishment of up to fifteen years in prison. The injured person is in the hospital.
As established by law enforcement, the incident occurred on June 22 around 10:00 AM in one of the villages of the Lviv district. A conflict arose between a 39-year-old resident of Lviv and his acquaintance, also a 67-year-old resident of Lviv, during which the younger participant, intending to kill the older one, inflicted multiple knife wounds. Subsequently, the injured party was taken to the hospital, where doctors diagnosed him with multiple stab wounds to the abdomen and neck. The man is currently in intensive care.
To solve the crime, criminal police operatives, investigators, and officers from other services of Police Department No. 3 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2, as well as employees of the Security Police Department of the Lviv Region and the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police, were involved.
Through the measures taken, having studied the video surveillance footage from the ‘Safe Lviv Region’ system, the police quickly identified the suspect’s location and detained him under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Pustomyty District Prosecutor’s Office, informed him of the suspicion of committing a crime under Part 2 of Article 15 – Part 1 of Article 115 (Attempted Murder) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for a punishment of imprisonment for a term of seven to fifteen years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a preventive measure for the suspect.
