In the Stryi district of the Lviv region, police arrested a local resident suspected of murdering a fellow villager. According to law enforcement, during a conflict, the 66-year-old man stabbed his 68-year-old acquaintance in the chest. If convicted, he faces up to 15 years in prison.
The incident occurred on January 17 at approximately 8:30 PM in the village of Nyzhnie Synyovydne. A resident reported finding a bloodied man on the street. Unfortunately, the victim died before paramedics arrived.
Police investigators, forensic experts, and other local law enforcement units worked at the scene.
Preliminary findings indicate that the conflict arose while the two men were drinking alcohol, leading to the younger man fatally stabbing the older one.
The suspect was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. Investigators, with oversight from the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office, charged him with premeditated murder under Article 115, Part 1, of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The penalty for this crime ranges from 7 to 15 years in prison.
The investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon determine the suspect’s pretrial detention measures.
