An attempt to illegally cross the state border outside the checkpoints was stopped by the border guards of the “Smilnytsia” department of the Lviv detachment. The detainees turned out to be men who did not have legal grounds for crossing the state border.
Yesterday evening, a local resident of the border received information about the movement of two unknown persons in the direction of the state border. For the purpose of verification, additional teams were sent from the unit.
During the search, border guards found and detained two residents of the city of Kharkiv, aged 45 and 46. Later, the detainees admitted that they intended to enter the EU countries illegally. For this, the travelers took with them tools to overcome the engineering arrangement.
The detainees were taken to the border unit for inspection and prosecution under Art. 204-1 of the Criminal Procedure Code “Illegal crossing or attempted illegal crossing of the state border of Ukraine.”
The further fate of the detainees will be decided by the court.
