In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers exposed a “long-distance trucker” who organized an illegal border crossing for his son
A 44-year-old resident of one of the villages of the Lviv district faces a penalty of imprisonment for up to five years.
The perpetrator was exposed by employees of the Migration Police Department in Lviv region and investigators of police department No. 2 of Lviv district police department No. 1 together with operatives of the State Border Service of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Zhovkiv district prosecutor’s office.
It was established that the suspect, a long-distance truck driver, organized a hiding place in the cabin of his Renault truck, in which he tried to cross the state border with his son, a citizen of Ukraine of draft age, in order to avoid his mobilization.
During an attempt to cross the border of Ukraine with the Republic of Poland, the hiding place with the “evader” was discovered by border guards.
The law enforcement officers informed the intruder about the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 1 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a term of three to five years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
