Spouses of drug dealers to be tried in Lviv
While her husband was in custody for drug trafficking, his wife sent him a parcel of psychotropic drugs.
They face imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
During the pre-trial investigation, investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 2 established that a previously convicted 40-year-old Lviv resident was selling methadone to drug addicts on a hand-to-hand basis. During an authorised search at the offender’s place of residence, law enforcement officers found and seized white drug-containing pills, bank cards, electronic scales and other material evidence of the accused’s involvement in illegal activities.
While the man was in custody in the temporary detention centre, his 42-year-old wife sent him a parcel. In addition to food, the parcel contained a plastic roll with a particularly dangerous psychotropic substance, PVP, which was found and seized by the police.
Investigators, under the procedural supervision of the Frankivsk District Prosecutor’s Office, have completed pre-trial investigations in criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 and Part 2 of Article 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, shipment or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues). The indictments have been sent to court.
The sanction of the articles provides for imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
