
In the Lviv region, a company director will be prosecuted for illegal gravel extraction.
The volume of illegally extracted minerals of national importance is almost 62 cubic meters, with the damages amounting to nearly 100,000 hryvnias. The suspect faces a penalty of up to six years of imprisonment.
As established by criminal police operatives and investigators of the police department No.3 of the Stryi district police department, a 52-year-old director of a private company instructed his subordinates to illegally extract sand and gravel raw materials beyond the land plot defined by the special permit for the use of mineral resources.
Thus, from May 2023 to March 2025, the company illegally extracted almost 62 cubic meters of mineral resources from the bed of the Stryi River. The total amount of damage to the state is almost 100,000 hryvnias.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, opened under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office under part 3 of article 240 (Violation of rules for the protection or use of mineral resources, illegal extraction of minerals) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is completed. The indictment has been referred to court for consideration.
The accused faces a penalty of up to six years of imprisonment for the offense.
