
In the Lviv region, the former head of the municipal enterprise of Sambir City Council has been served with a new notice of suspicion. According to the police, he is accused of causing losses totalling UAH 8.1 million in the course of renting specialised machinery. This was reported by the Department of Strategic Investigations of the National Police of Ukraine.
Operational officers of the Strategic Investigations Department in Lviv region and investigators of the regional police investigation department established that the official had concluded a number of contracts with employees of the same municipal enterprise who had been registered as sole traders. The contracts were signed without carrying out the procurement procedures required by law.
Under these contracts, the municipal enterprise rented specialised machinery from the sole traders – a backhoe loader, a bulldozer and other lorries. Funds were transferred to the entrepreneurs’ accounts for allegedly provided services, however, according to the investigation, the work existed only on paper.
As a result of these actions, according to preliminary estimates, the municipal enterprise suffered losses of UAH 8.1 million. On the basis of the collected evidence, the former head of the enterprise has been served with a new notice of suspicion.
Previously, this same official had already been served with a notice of suspicion for the unlawful deferment from mobilisation of men of conscription age by means of their fictitious employment and for receiving “kickbacks” for an official of the regional office of the State Service of Ukraine for Transport Safety.
