Readers should be aware that in the Lviv region, efforts continue to extinguish a dangerous peat fire in the village of Sytikhiv. These types of fires are particularly challenging as the flames can spread over large areas both on the surface and through the deeper layers of peat.
Over the past 24 hours, rescuers in the Lviv region have extinguished eight fires, one of which occurred in ecosystems. The peat fire requires special attention, as it is necessary to use a large amount of water to extinguish it and to control the process for several days. Unlike ordinary fires, peat fires are not heavily influenced by the wind, but the fire can smoulder underground for a long time.
Rescuers once again urge residents not to burn dry grass and rubbish, as any carelessness with fire can lead to severe consequences for people and the environment.
