The former head of the state executive service department has been sentenced to 5 years of imprisonment for fraud.
Prosecutors of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office have proven in court the guilt of the former head of one of the departments of the state executive service in the Lviv district of the Western inter-regional management of the Ministry of Justice. He was accused of fraud and instigating the provision of improper benefits to an official (Part 2 of Art. 190, Part 4 of Art. 27, Part 2 of Art. 15, Part 3 of Art. 369 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine).
The punishment imposed by the court is 5 years imprisonment with confiscation of property. It was proven that in August 2022, while holding a managerial position in the state executive service, the convicted defrauded his former subordinate.
He convinced the ex-employee of the executive service that he could influence law enforcers and “resolve the issue” of closing a criminal proceeding. Thus, for 4,000 USD, the former state executor would be able to avoid responsibility for document forgery. If he refused, the official assured that law enforcers would find enough evidence to not close the case.
However, the superior did not plan to pass on the money obtained from the former subordinate to anyone and intended to keep it himself. He was arrested immediately after receiving the agreed amount, and the funds were confiscated. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by the Territorial Department of the State Bureau of Investigations, located in the city of Lviv. The court’s sentence becomes legally binding after the expiration of the appeal period.
