A traffic accident occurred in the Lviv region, resulting in the injury of a pedestrian.
On November 26, around 17:30, at Aviation Square in the city of Novy Kalyniv, Sambir district, the driver of a Renault Traffic minibus, a 47-year-old resident of Drohobych, hit a pedestrian. The victim was identified as a 37-year-old resident of one of the villages in the Sambir district. As a result of the accident, the pedestrian sustained bodily injuries and was hospitalized.
Investigators from the Lviv region’s transport crime investigation department opened a criminal case under part 2 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article includes imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with or without deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
The police are establishing the circumstances of the incident. In the Lviv region, a series of preventive measures are being implemented to control road safety. This is done to reduce the number of traffic accidents, their prevention, and warning. The number of response teams of the patrol police has been increased, as well as the involvement of community police officers in the most accident-prone road sections.
