
A tragic road accident occurred in the Lviv region, resulting in the death of a cyclist.
The incident happened on June 13 at 10:50 PM on the ‘Kyiv-Chop’ highway in the village of Ozhydiv, Zolochiv district. According to preliminary data, a 26-year-old resident of Lutsk, driving a ‘Renault Master’ minibus, hit a 40-year-old local cyclist. The latter died at the scene from the injuries sustained.
Based on the event, Lviv police investigators have opened a criminal case under part 2 of article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. This article provides for a penalty of imprisonment for a term of three to eight years with a possible deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for up to three years.
An investigation is currently underway, with law enforcement officers establishing the circumstances of the incident.
