In Lviv region, customs officers seize undeclared batteries, iPhones and car parts

At the border crossing points «Krakivets – Korczowa», «Hrushiv – Budomierz» and «Shehyni – Medyka» in the Lviv region, customs officers together with border guards uncovered several consignments of undeclared goods with a total estimated value of around UAH 2 million.

At the «Krakivets – Korczowa» crossing point, a scheduled coach on the «Wrocław – Kosiv» route, driven by a 42-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region, arrived to enter Ukraine. During an inspection of the vehicle, customs officers found battery system units and cylindrical lithium-ion batteries, a total of 3,030 items. The goods were undeclared and concealed in a specially equipped compartment in the luggage hold, created by installing an additional partition.

The estimated value of the batteries seized in this case is UAH 1.1 million. A report on a breach of customs regulations has been drawn up under Part 1 of Article 483 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.

The day before, at the «Hrushiv – Budomierz» crossing point, during a customs inspection of a scheduled coach on the «Cologne – Zaporizhzhia» route, driven by a 37-year-old resident of Lviv, officers discovered 100 lithium iron phosphate batteries with an estimated value of UAH 400,000. The goods had also not been properly declared.

Another incident was recorded at the «Shehyni – Medyka» crossing point, where a Fiat Ducato vehicle arrived via the “red channel”. The driver, a 43-year-old resident of Lviv region, declared 300 kg of used clothing, but during the inspection customs officers found 6 Apple iPhone mobile phones and 2 Spark titanium exhaust manifolds with an estimated value of UAH 500,000 in his personal bag.

For the latter two incidents, reports on breaches of customs regulations have been drawn up on the grounds of Part 2 of Article 471 of the Customs Code of Ukraine.
