In Lviv region, an indictment has been submitted to court against a 44-year-old resident of Mostyska district, who is accused of systematically raping his own underage daughter. This was reported by the Lviv Regional and Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Offices.
According to the investigation, over the course of about a year and a half, the man committed sexual violence against his daughter. The girl’s mother had been deprived of parental rights, so the child lived with her father and younger sister.
The first established episode of rape, according to the investigation, took place in 2024, when the victim was 15 years old. The violence, it is noted, did not stop even after the girl enrolled at a vocational college and moved to live in a hall of residence.
The girl told a tutor at the educational institution about the rape. The tutor informed the student’s older sister, who contacted the police. It is known that the man had previously been repeatedly prosecuted for property offences.
In February 2024, law enforcement officers detained the suspect under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. At the request of the prosecution, the court imposed the most stringent preventive measure – remand in custody without the right to bail. The pre-trial investigation was conducted by Police Station No. 1 of the Yavoriv District Police Department of the Main Directorate of the National Police in Lviv region.
The indictment has been submitted under Part 3 of Article 152 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (rape). Pursuant to Article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is presumed innocent of committing a crime and may not be subjected to criminal punishment until his or her guilt has been proven in the manner prescribed by law and established by a guilty verdict of a court.
