In Lviv region, man accused of fraudulent weapons sale to stand trial

In Lviv region, an indictment has been submitted to court against a 27-year-old resident of Cherkasy region, who is accused of fraudulently obtaining money during the sale of weapons. This was reported by law enforcement agencies.

According to the pre-trial investigation, in January 2026 a former serviceman, who had previously already been held criminally liable, sold a grenade launcher and ammunition for it to a “client”. According to expert findings, the weapon and ammunition were found to be unfit for use.

Thus, as established by investigators, the man fraudulently obtained the buyer’s money in the amount of 2,800 dollars. The criminal proceedings were investigated under Part 1 of Article 190 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (fraud); the pre-trial investigation has been completed and the indictment has been submitted for consideration by the court.

The sanction of the specified article provides for punishment in the form of a fine ranging from two thousand to three thousand tax-free minimum incomes of citizens, or community service for a term of between two hundred and two hundred and forty hours, or correctional labour for a term of up to two years, or probation supervision for a term of up to three years, or restriction of liberty for the same term.

The offender was exposed by inquiry officers of Police Station No. 3 of the Stryi District Police Department together with operatives of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the prosecution authorities.
