
In the Lviv region, law enforcement officers have charged an Azerbaijani citizen with the illegal legalization of a foreigner. He faces up to eight years in prison with confiscation of property. The 37-year-old suspect was exposed by officers of the Migration Police Department along with investigators from the Economic Crime Investigation Department and SBU employees in the Lviv region. According to the investigation, he offered to help extend a temporary residence permit in Ukraine for a Moldovan citizen for 1000 US dollars. For this money, he promised to influence migration service officials to make a positive decision. The suspect planned to produce fake documents from an organization under his control. Investigators, under the guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, reported suspicion of influence peddling, as provided by part 3 of article 369-2 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty is eight years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
