The Kamianka-Buzka District Court of the Lviv Region fined a military contractor of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, with the rank of lieutenant colonel, who excluded at least seven reserve officers from military records. The court decision was made public on Monday, October 9.

It is known from the portal of the judiciary that it is about the lieutenant colonel of the Ukrainian Armed Forces Oleksandr Balyura, who neglected his duties and excluded several reserve officers from the military register. And those, taking advantage of the opportunity, went abroad. From the court order, at least seven such episodes are known in the spring of last year. The first case was recorded on April 26, 2022.

“As a result of a careless attitude to the performance of military service duties, control over the legality of registration of materials and their timely submission to the TCC for the subsequent issuance of military registration documents, certificates and other documents to citizens, he did not carry out, without a certificate of illness issued and approved by the 16th Regional Military Police, he allowed groundless exclusion from military registration due to the state of health of a reserve officer, which gave the latter the right to travel abroad without hindrance,” the resolution reads.

Lieutenant-Colonel Oleksandr Balyura did not appear at the court, but submitted a statement to consider the case without his participation, and pleaded guilty.

Judge Markiyan Samsin of the Kamianka-Buzy district court of the Lviv region found lieutenant colonel Oleksandr Balyura guilty of negligent military service and fined him UAH 2,465. We would like to add that this decision can still be challenged in an appeal.
