For the crime committed, the fleeing driver faces the penalty of imprisonment for a term of up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years.
On August 21, around 7:10 p.m., the police received a report that an unknown driver, driving a Subaru car, hit a 14-year-old girl standing on the side of the road on Shevchenka Street in the village of Zavadiv, Lviv District, and then fled the scene. Later, doctors diagnosed the victim with a broken leg.
Criminal police operatives and investigators of the traffic crime investigation department of Lviv District Police Department No. 1 were involved in establishing the identity of the fleeing driver and searching for the car that was involved in the collision.
Through the conducted measures, the law enforcement officers established that a 65-year-old local resident was involved in the accident. His car “Subaru” with characteristic damage was taken by the police to the arrest ground.
According to the fact, investigators of the territorial division of the police opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 (Violation of traffic safety rules) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanction of the article is restriction of liberty for a term of up to three years, with deprivation of the right to drive vehicles for a term of up to three years.
