DVB operatives and police investigators of the Lviv region stopped the illegal activities of a man who was involved in the production and sale of forged documents in the region. Also, the man made fake documents about his unfitness for military service, which enabled conscripts to go abroad.
A 54-year-old resident of Lviv Oblast, who made illegal arrangements with forged documents for people to travel abroad, was exposed by operatives of the Lviv Office of the Department of Internal Security together with investigators of the Lviv Oblast Police. The law enforcement officers found out that the man was ordering documents of state institutions with holographic elements and seals, including documents of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
The suspect set up a workshop for the production of fakes at his home, and sought out customers via the Internet. It was possible to buy a driver’s license and a vehicle registration certificate, a passport, diplomas of higher education, a death certificate, a certificate of a participant in hostilities, and even excise stamps for alcoholic products from a man.
The businessman was in great demand for documents that allowed conscripted men to issue official permits for unhindered travel abroad: certificates of unfitness for military service and removal from military registration. For example, the criminal received $500 from the customer for a fake pension certificate of a disabled person and accompanying medical documents regarding a fictitious disability group.
Law enforcement officers conducted an authorized search of the person involved, during which they discovered and seized a large number of forged documents, stamps, seals of state institutions and other things that confirm his criminal activity.
