In the Lviv region, the police detained a criminal who facilitated the illegal departure of men of conscription age abroad

The perpetrator produced fictitious documents for conscripted men to leave Ukraine under martial law. He valued his “services” at $4,000.

As the investigators of the general criminal investigation department of the Lviv Oblast police together with the operatives of the State Security Service of Ukraine established, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office, a 29-year-old man from Lviv promised to produce medical documents that gave men the right to travel abroad under martial law.

The perpetrator was detained on July 29 in Lviv in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine while receiving part of the illegal benefit in the amount of 2,000 US dollars. Soon, the court will choose a preventive measure for the detainee.

Investigators informed the detainee of suspicion of committing an offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years with confiscation of property.

The pre-trial investigation is ongoing. Law enforcement officers are identifying all persons involved in the organization of the channel of illegal transportation of persons across the border.
