Detectives of the 7th Border Detachment of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine exposed four Ukrainian citizens who tried to cross the state border with the Republic of Poland by presenting documents with signs of forgery, and investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department identified them on suspicion of committing a crime.
On March 16, servicemen of the Western Regional Department of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine at the Krakovets-Korchova checkpoint exposed four citizens of Ukraine of military age – three residents of Chernihiv region, one aged 41 and two 26-year-old, and a resident of Kharkiv region aged 46. The attackers tried to cross the state border of Ukraine with the Republic of Poland, presenting documents that showed signs of forgery.
Border guards called an investigative task force of the Yavoriv District Police Department to the scene. According to law enforcement officers, the forged documents were handed over to residents of Chernihiv and Kharkiv regions by a 30-year-old resident of Volyn region, and a 21-year-old Lviv resident was involved in their preparation. For this “service”, each of the men who tried to cross the border illegally gave the criminals money in the amount of 4 thousand US dollars.
During the searches, the police found and confiscated from the perpetrators forms of documents, office equipment with which they made them, money obtained from illegal activities, as well as other material evidence.
Investigators of the territorial police unit, under the procedural guidance of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office, opened criminal proceedings under Part 5 of Article 27 Part 1, Part 4 of Article 358 (Assistance in forgery and use of forged documents) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and Part 3 of Article .358 (Re forgery of documents) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The maximum penalty provided by the sanctions of the article is up to five years of imprisonment.
