The suspect, a 46-year-old resident of Ivano-Frankivsk region, was exposed by investigators of the Yavoriv District Police Department, operatives of the Lviv Migration Police Department together with officers of the 7th Border Detachment of the State Border Guard Service of Ukraine, under the procedural supervision of the Yavoriv District Prosecutor’s Office.
It was established that the suspect, a group II disabled person, entered into a fictitious marriage with her 41-year-old acquaintance so that he could avoid mobilisation and travel abroad as a person accompanying his wife with a disability. On 7 September, after midnight, they were exposed by law enforcement officers while trying to cross the border of Ukraine.
Investigators served the offender a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offence under Part 1 of Article 332 (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The article provides for imprisonment for a term of three to five years.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
