It has been established that the suspect organized the illegal entry of data of men of military age into one of the information systems, which gave them the right to travel outside Ukraine under martial law. He estimated his “services” at USD 7 thousand from each “client”.
The offender, a 52-year-old resident of Stryi, was exposed by investigators of the Economic and Official Crime Investigation Department of the Lviv Police jointly with the SBU Office in Lviv region, under the procedural supervision of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
Law enforcement officers detained the suspect in accordance with Art. 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine on April 30 in Stryi after he received a part of the funds from one of the “clients” in the amount of USD 4 thousand.
During the authorized searches, law enforcement officers found and seized computer equipment, documents, draft records and other material evidence confirming his involvement in organizing the illegal transportation of persons across the border of Ukraine.
The investigators served the detainee a notice of suspicion of committing a criminal offense stipulated by Part 3 Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to occupy certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing, and the court will soon choose a measure of restraint against the suspect.
