The man promised to prepare a package of documents and help the man of draft age to cross the border for a “reward” in the amount of about 5 thousand US dollars.
A 44-year-old resident of Chervonograd district, who organized an illegal channel for transporting conscripts across the state border of Ukraine, was exposed by the investigators of the Department of Investigation of Crimes in the Field of Economic and Service Activities of the Lviv Oblast Police together with operatives of the Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv Oblast under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Oblast Prosecutor’s Office.
As the law enforcement officers established, the perpetrator undertook to prepare a package of documents that would allow a man of conscription age to travel abroad under the guise of a volunteer.
For this he demanded about 5 thousand US dollars.
He took the first part of the funds from the customer in June, and on July 26 law enforcement officers detained the perpetrator in Lviv while receiving the second part of the “reward” in the amount of 4 thousand US dollars in accordance with Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine.
Investigators informed the detainee of the suspicion of committing a criminal offense provided for in Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine. The sanction of the article provides for punishment – deprivation of liberty for a period of seven to nine years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a period of up to three years with confiscation of property.
The pre-trial investigation is ongoing.
