Border Guards Uncover Fake Parents with Many Children

An attempt to cross the Ukrainian-Polish border with forged documents has been uncovered.

At the ‘Smilnytsia’ checkpoint, border guards stopped two men who attempted to cross the border claiming a fictitious status of parents with many children. **20-year-old and 24-year-old residents of Zakarpattia** presented birth certificates for inspection, according to which each was the proud father of three children. However, technical means of border control revealed the documents to be fake. When the men were asked to name their ‘children’ and provide birthdates, they were at a loss. Eventually, it was clarified: they did not have any children at all.

An attempt to use forgeries for the sake of departure during martial law ended not in a trip to Europe but a handover to the National Police. The preliminary legal qualification is part 4 of Article 358 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine: forgery of documents, seals, stamps, and forms, the sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps.

The State Border Guard Service of Ukraine is strengthening the protection of the state border through the implementation of digital solutions, innovative technologies, and the enhancement of international cooperation.
