
In Lviv Region, an indictment has been filed in court against a 40-year-old man from Sambir district who showed a grenade during a live broadcast on a social network.
A report about a man who had displayed an object resembling ammunition on air was received by the police on 24 March. To verify the information, officers from the criminal police, investigators and staff from other units of Police Station No. 1 of the Sambir District Police Department, as well as specialists from the Explosive Ordnance Disposal Service Directorate of the Lviv Region Police, were brought in.
The same day, law enforcement officers identified the suspect – a 40-year-old resident of one of the villages in Sambir district who is not serving in the military. He was detained under Article 208 of the Criminal Procedure Code of Ukraine. The man was carrying an RGN grenade with a detonator, which was seized by explosives experts.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings opened under Part 1 of Article 263 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (illegal handling of weapons, ammunition or explosives) has been completed, and the indictment has been submitted to the court. Under this article, the accused faces a sentence of imprisonment for a term of three to seven years.
Procedural supervision in the proceedings is being carried out by the Sambir District Prosecutor’s Office.
