A 40-year-old man who killed and dismembered the body of a 50-year-old Lviv woman will be tried in Lviv Oblast

To cover up the crime, the man dragged the victim’s body into the bathroom, dismembered it, and then fled. The dismembered body of a Lviv woman was discovered ten days later, when neighbors smelled a corpse.

As the law enforcement officers established, on August 18, around 9:00 p.m., in one of the apartments on Taras Shevchenko Street in Morshyn, a conflict arose between a 50-year-old woman from Lviv and a 40-year-old man from Lviv during the drinking of alcoholic beverages, during which he struck her several times in the head, from which she died at the scene. Later, in order to hide the crime, the perpetrator dragged the victim’s body to the bathroom, where he dismembered it, after which he fled.

Through operational measures, the police established the suspect’s location and detained him.

Investigators of the Stryi District Police Department under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office completed the pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings opened under Part 1 of Article 115 (Deliberate murder) and Part 1 of Article 297 (Insulting a grave, other place of burial or the body of the deceased) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, the indictment is referred to the court.

For the committed crime, the accused, who is in custody according to the court’s decision, faces a penalty of seven to fifteen years of imprisonment.
