
In the Lviv region, a suspect will be tried for shooting at a truck’s tires with a hunting rifle.
The incident occurred during a conflict between the accused and the truck driver. The shooter faces punishment of up to seven years of imprisonment.
As established by officers of the police department No.1 of the Sheptytskyi district police department, on April 22, at around 22:00 in the Sheptytskyi district near the village of Lopatin, a verbal altercation broke out between a 58-year-old local resident and the driver of a MAN truck, escalating into a conflict during which the local resident returned home and came back with a hunting rifle. Intending to damage the truck’s tires, the man fired two shots, but pellets ricocheted and hit his own leg.
The weapon used in the shooting was seized by law enforcement officers. The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding, opened under the procedural guidance of the Sheptytskyi district prosecutor’s office under part 4 of Article 296 (“Hooliganism”) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been concluded. The indictment has been forwarded to court for consideration.
The accused faces a penalty of three to seven years of imprisonment.
