In the Lviv region, an official accused of professional negligence will be tried.
The total amount of damages caused to one of the rural territorial communities in the Stryi district due to the careless attitude of the official to the execution of her duties exceeds 745 thousand hryvnias.
It was established that the head of the department for land resources, cadastre, and ecology of one of the village councils did not initiate the issue of conducting an inventory of municipal agricultural lands, did not control their use, and did not take measures to formalize lease agreements for land plots and collect rent for their use over a long period.
As a result, land plots with a total area of more than 158 hectares that are in communal ownership were illegally occupied by citizens and a farming enterprise. They were plowed, sown with agricultural crops, and harvested. At the same time, the village council did not receive any income from renting these lands. Thus, the territorial community suffered damages totaling more than 745 thousand hryvnias.
The official was exposed by investigators from the Stryi District Police Department together with operatives of the State Security Service of Ukraine in the Lviv region, under the procedural guidance of the Stryi District Prosecutor’s Office.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceeding opened under part 2 of Article 367 (Professional Negligence) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine is completed. The indictment has been sent to court for consideration.
The article’s sanction provides for punishment – imprisonment for a term of two to five years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years and a fine from two hundred fifty to seven hundred fifty non-taxable minimum incomes of citizens or without such.
