The prosecution of Lviv region has submitted an indictment to the court against a group of individuals who, in May-June 2024, organized illegal border crossings for men subject to military service. A lawyer was involved in this scheme. According to the investigation, clients traveled to the Odesa and Zakarpattia regions, where they were met by accomplices who provided temporary housing. Subsequently, the men were smuggled into neighboring countries outside of official checkpoints and without customs control. The cost of such a service ranged from 2,000 to 15,000 US dollars per person. Three instances of such border crossings have been recorded.
A man from Lviv and a resident of Zakarpattia have been charged with organizing illegal border crossings of Ukraine, and the lawyer has been charged with complicity (part 3, article 332 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine). The investigation was conducted by investigators from the Main Directorate of the National Police in the Lviv region together with operatives of the USR.
According to article 62 of the Constitution of Ukraine, a person is considered innocent until their guilt is proven in a legal manner and established by a court verdict.
