Drug dealers accused of selling methadone to be tried in Lviv region

It has been established that three residents of Lviv district aged 38, 39 and 41 organised the supply and hand-to-hand distribution of methadone in Lviv region.

The criminals “worked” mainly at bus and petrol stations and near shops, with a monthly income of about UAH 300,000.

Law enforcers documented several facts of drug trafficking, and during authorised searches of the offenders’ residences and cars, they found and seized: packages of methadone and cannabis, draft records, funds obtained from illegal activities and other material evidence.

The criminals were exposed by operatives of the Drug Crime Department jointly with investigators of the Police Department No. 2 of the Lviv District Police Department No. 1, officers of the Criminal Analysis Department of the Lviv Police, under the procedural supervision of the Zhovkva Regional Prosecutor’s Office. The detentions were carried out with the support of the Special Forces of the Lviv Police.

The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings initiated under Part 1 and Part 2 of Art. 307 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine (Illegal production, manufacture, acquisition, storage, transportation, transfer or sale of narcotic drugs, psychotropic substances or their analogues) has been completed. The indictments have been sent to court.

The maximum penalty facing the accused is imprisonment for up to ten years with confiscation of property.
