In the Lviv region, offenders who organized a channel for the illegal transfer of military conscripts to Romania will be tried.
The suspects’ “clients” received a full range of “services” – they were provided with routes to cross the border outside of checkpoints, given detailed instructions, transferred in several vehicles, and given temporary accommodation in hotels.
The offenders – a 37-year-old resident of Khmelnytsky and two accomplices from the Chernivtsi region – were exposed by investigators from the department investigating crimes in the field of economic and official activities of the Lviv Region Police Investigation Department, along with operatives from the Main Department of Internal Security of the Security Service of Ukraine, under the procedural guidance of the Lviv Regional Prosecutor’s Office.
The “smugglers” had clearly distributed duties and operated following strict secrecy rules – they frequently changed vehicles, moved from one region to another, bypassed checkpoints, and hid from investigation.
The crossing into Romanian territory was supposed to take place from the Chernivtsi region. The cost of the “service” for illegally transferring military conscripts was 11 thousand dollars.
The pre-trial investigation in the criminal proceedings, opened under Part 3 of Article 332 (Illegal transfer of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, has been completed. The indictment has been sent to court for consideration.
For their crimes, the offenders face a punishment of imprisonment for a term of seven to nine years with the deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for up to three years, with confiscation of property.
