In the Lviv region, participants of an organized group accused of robbery will be tried.
On January 11, around 6:00 p.m., in the town of Turka, perpetrators wearing masks broke into the house of a local entrepreneur. Threatening with a weapon, they beat and tied up the owner, while his wife and granddaughter, who were in the house at the time, were locked in the bathroom. Two of the attackers took the keys to the safe and drove to the victim’s office in his car, from where they stole almost a million hryvnias. Meanwhile, their accomplices who stayed in the house took money from the residents and seized jewelry. After the crime, all the perpetrators fled.
To solve the crime, operatives from the criminal investigation, officers of the Criminal Analysis Department and other police services in Lviv region, as well as operatives from the criminal police, investigators, and officers from other services of Police Station No. 2 of Sambir District Police Department, were involved. The perpetrators were identified as six residents of Sambir district aged between 22 and 67. Arrests were made with the support of specialized police units in Lviv region.
The pre-trial investigation, initiated under the procedural guidance of the prosecutor’s office for Article 27 – Part 4 of Article 187 (Robbery) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, and Part 3 of Article 289 (Illegal seizure of a vehicle) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, is completed. The indictment has been sent to court for consideration. The maximum penalty provided by the articles’ sanctions – up to fifteen years of imprisonment with confiscation of property.
