Three residents of Lviv Oblast were exposed by investigators of Lviv District Police Department No. 2 together with operatives of the Office of the Security Service of Ukraine in Lviv Oblast, under the procedural guidance of the Frankiv District Prosecutor’s Office.
It was established that the perpetrators organized a scheme for conscripted men to cross the state border of Ukraine during wartime and ensured their transportation across the border. To do this, “clients” were employed in positions that included the right to travel abroad, registered in the relevant databases, consulted and provided with transport.
Law enforcement officers documented 12 facts of organization by the defendants of illegal transportation abroad of conscripted citizens, after which they did not return to Ukraine.
Pre-trial investigation in criminal proceedings opened under part 2 of article 332 (Illegal transportation of persons across the state border of Ukraine) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine and part 1, part 3 of article 358 (Forgery of documents, seals, stamps and forms, sale or use of forged documents, seals, stamps) of the Criminal Code of Ukraine, completed. The indictment is referred to the court.
The maximum punishment facing the accused is imprisonment for a term of up to seven years with deprivation of the right to hold certain positions or engage in certain activities for a term of up to three years.
