In the village of Byshkiv in Lviv region, three people were injured in a road accident, including two children

In the village of Byshkiv in Lviv district, a road traffic collision occurred in which three people were injured, including two children. The Lviv region police reported this.

The collision happened on 6 July, at around 21:40, on Tsentralna Street. According to preliminary information, a Lifan motorcycle ridden by a 32-year-old local resident collided with a Honda Dio scooter driven by a 12-year-old girl.

As a result of the collision, both riders of the two-wheeled vehicles, as well as a 12-year-old passenger on the scooter, sustained bodily injuries. All the casualties were taken to hospital.

On the basis of the road traffic collision, investigators have opened criminal proceedings under Part 1 of Article 286 of the Criminal Code of Ukraine – violation of road safety rules or the operation of transport by persons driving vehicles. The article provides for a penalty of up to three years’ restriction of liberty, with disqualification from driving for the same period.

Police officers are establishing all the circumstances and causes of the incident and are appealing to parents to strictly supervise their children’s leisure time. Law enforcement officers remind the public that riding scooters and mopeds is permitted from the age of 16 and only if the rider holds a driving licence of the appropriate category, so children must not be allowed to get behind the wheel of vehicles.
